Lowcountry Ovarian Cancer Alliance

Supporting Women with Ovarian and Gynecologic Cancer in South Carolina

Every woman deserves to be heard.
Every symptom deserves attention.
Every diagnosis deserves support.

The Lowcountry Ovarian Cancer Alliance (LOCA) is a South Carolina nonprofit founded by gynecologic cancer survivors, healthcare professionals, students, and compassionate community members. United by a shared mission, we provide meaningful support to local women facing ovarian and gynecologic cancers while increasing awareness across the Lowcountry and throughout South Carolina.

Local Support for Gynecologic Cancer Patients

A cancer diagnosis can feel isolating. In the Lowcountry, you do not have to walk this journey alone. LOCA provides hands-on, heart-centered support to women facing ovarian, uterine, cervical, and other gynecologic cancers.

Lunch Bunch

Our monthly Lunch Bunch gatherings at area restaurants create a safe, welcoming space for patients and survivors to connect with others who truly understand the journey. These gatherings foster friendship, encouragement, and lasting community.

Bags of Hope

Our Bags of Hope are thoughtfully curated care packages delivered to newly diagnosed gynecologic cancer patients in the Lowcountry. Each bag provides comfort items, practical resources, and a reminder that a community stands beside them.

Education and Community Outreach

Through partnerships with healthcare providers, local events, and educational initiatives, LOCA works to increase awareness about ovarian and other gynecologic cancers throughout South Carolina.

Ovarian Cancer Awareness in South Carolina

Ovarian cancer is often called a silent disease, but it is not silent if you know what to look for.

Know the Symptoms

Symptoms that persist for more than two weeks and represent a change from your normal may include:
  • Bloating
  • Pelvic or abdominal pain
  • Feeling full quickly
  • Urinary urgency or frequency
  • Unexplained fatigue
When symptoms are new and persistent, they deserve medical attention. LOCA is committed to educating women and families in Charleston and across South Carolina about the importance of early recognition and advocacy.
