At the Lowcountry Ovarian Cancer Alliance (LOCA), our programs are designed to provide meaningful, local support to women facing ovarian and other gynecologic cancers throughout Charleston and the greater Lowcountry region of South Carolina.

Monthly Community for Patients & Survivors
Lunch Bunch is a monthly luncheon hosted at area restaurants by LOCA. It is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the company of other patients and survivors walking a similar journey.
Support for the Ones Who Support
Caregiver’s Lunch is a quarterly gathering created specifically for the loved ones and at-home supporters of ovarian cancer patients and survivors.
Caregivers carry a tremendous emotional and physical responsibility.
Comfort & Encouragement at Diagnosis
A cancer diagnosis can feel overwhelming and isolating. LOCA’s Bags of Hope are thoughtfully curated care packages delivered to newly diagnosed gynecologic cancer patients in the Lowcountry.
Each bag includes comforting items, helpful resources, and reminders that a local community stands beside them from the very beginning.
Our goal is simple: no woman should feel alone after hearing the words, “You have cancer.”
Educating Future Healthcare Providers
Survivors Teaching Students® brings ovarian cancer survivors and caregivers directly into medical and healthcare education programs to share their lived experiences.
Survivors Teaching Students® is an initiative sponsored by the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (OCRA), and LOCA is proud to support its implementation in South Carolina.
By educating tomorrow’s healthcare providers today, we are improving outcomes for future patients.
LOCA works throughout Charleston and the Lowcountry to increase ovarian cancer awareness and promote earlier recognition of symptoms.
Through outreach events and educational initiatives, we help women understand when symptoms deserve medical evaluation and encourage advocacy for their own health.
Awareness leads to earlier conversations.
